1 Corinthians 12
My husband and I had this reading at our wedding. It's not the traditional verse from 1 Corinthians that we all love so much, but it's message is so important to me that I wanted every single person witnessing our marriage to hear it. Maybe it's because it's written in my heart from so many church songs, or I watched a lot of Mister Rogers as a kid, or I have such open-minded and loving parents. . .but I really believe this to be true.
Everyone has a gift to share.
EVERYONE. That we are all here for a reason. No one is a mistake. I believe it unconditionally and with all of my heart. Hence the name of this blog.
I love to look for the good in others, to find their talents, to appreciate the things they do well and be grateful for them. Because honestly, there are many gifts I do NOT have- athletic ability, depth perception, rhythm, and the discipline to stick to any sort of schedule or diet being among them. I love to applaud all of the people who can do these things- they inspire me!! Actually, I could go on for days about all of the things that I am totally lame at. . .turning left, staying awake while watching TV, waking up the first time my alarm goes off. . .
but there is one gift I know I do have. The ability to encourage people, see their goodness and love them unconditionally. Through this blog I hope I can share that gift of encouragement with others.
This is for my friends, my family, my husband, and anyone else- even just one person- who needs a lift, a laugh (perhaps at my expense), a prayer, a creative idea, a kind word or a simple reminder that we are all in this together.
So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:5
